Above is the first design of the LGBTI flag
as created and presented by Gilbert Baker on June 15th 1978 at the San Francisco
Gay Freedom Day Parade, while his inspiration towards the design is still
debated and sensationalized in myths that all undermine the beauty of the
thoughts he attached to the colors as you see above.
A sweeter yet darker story emerges after
the first parading that lead to its evolution. It starts with the assassination
of Harvey Milk an openly gay City Supervisor that ripples out into an enormous
demand of rainbow flags. There happens to be a scarce supply of the hot pink
fabric that led to its deduction from the colorful family. Minus one.
Just to impress me further, comes the next
one that was ignited by the realization that when the flags were hanged
vertically on the street markets in San Francisco the middle color was obscured
so they revised it to the now accepted 6 color flag below.
There you go, short and easy to understand.
So simply refrain from the miscommunication when you embrace the 7 colored weather
rainbow in your queer expressions and organizational logos. Google is a helping
hand to embrace, goodnight friends.
